Nepal rally to hold Bangkok Glass
Bangkok, May 18:
Nepali national team rallied twice to hold local Bangkok Glass 2-2 in a friendly football match here today.
Part of the preparation for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup qualifers, Nepal trailed early in the 15th minute when Anukun Futyan scored for the hosts. But Nepal drew level when Nalin Nunthai conceded an own goal in the first half injury time.
Anukun put the local team ahead again in the 70th minute but midfielder Parbat Pandey helped avert his team’s defeat late in the second half when he capitalised on a headed pass from Bharat Khawas.
Earlier, Nepal suffered a severe setback when the dynamic midfielder Pradeep Maharjan sustained a serious knee injury and was rushed to the nearby hospital.
With striker Nirajan Rayamajhi yet to recover from injury and Maharhan injured, Nepal’s hope to fare well at the Challenge Cup has been hit hard.
Nepal are in Group ‘D’ with Macau and hosts Cambodia and only the top team from each of the four groups qualify for the eight-team final to be held in Hyderabad from July 30.
