Nepal record easy win over Guernsey

Kathmandu, May 20:

Nepal recorded a comprehensive 202-run win over Guernsey in a warm up match at the Guernsey Island today ahead of their ICC World Cricket League League Division-V.

Batting first, Nepal accumulated 272-7 in their 50 overs and restricting the hosts to a meagre total of 71 in 30.4 overs. Allrounders Paras Khadka and Shakti Gauchan each scored a half century for the visitors.

Khadka top-scored with 63 from 42 balls and Gauchan made 77-ball 50. Gyanendra Malla fell two runs short of his half century while Dipendra Chaudhary chipped in 29 from 32, Paresh Lohani 18 off 24 and Maheboob Alam 19 off 34 balls.

Skipper Binod Das, Alam and Raj Kumar Pradhan claimed two wickets each while Gauchan, Sanjam Regmi, Khadka and Basanta Regmi took one each for the visitors.

Nepal are pitted against Mozambique, the United States, Germany, Norway and Vanuata in Group A of the ICC World Cricket League Division-V to be held in Jersey. Group B comprises of Afghanistan, Japan, hosts Jersey, Singapore, Bahamas and Botswana. Top two teams will qualify for the WCL Division-IV.

Nepal will open their campaign against Mozambique in Grainville on Many 24 before taking on Norway at the Farmers Field on May 26. The Nepali side will play their third league match against Vanuata at the Victoria College the next day before facing the United States at Les Quennevais on May 28.
