KATHMANDU: Nepali youth basketball team registered double victories in the FIBA Asia U-18 Qualifying Championship in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Wednesday. In the first match of the championship, Nepal edged past Sri Lanka 65-64 riding on 26 points from Aashish Basnet. Nepal took the first and fourth quarter with the score of 16-10 and 21-16, while they lost second and third with 14-15 and 14-23. In another match, Nischal Maharjan’s 15 points helped Nepal register narrow margin 57-54 win over hosts Bangladesh. Nepal will take on India in their last match on Thursday. The winner of the championship will play U-18 Asia Cup.
