Nepal secure a narrow win over Tajikistan, enter Nadezhda Cup final

KATHMANDU: Nepal women's national football team romped to 1-0 victory over Tajikistan and progressed into the final of the Nadezhda Cup in Karakol, Kyrgyz Republic on Tuesday.

Prolific striker Sabitra Bhandari scored a solitary goal in the 86th minute in a must-win encounter today. Both the teams created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but to no avail.

After this victory, Nepal will lock their horns against Uzbekistan for the coveted trophy on Thursday.

Earlier, Nepal had defeated the hosts Kyrgyz Republic 8-2 before suffering 2-0 defeat against the Uzbeks.

Nepal are taking part in the event as the preparation for the upcoming South Asian Games, slated for December in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
