Storm, Bulls win
KATHMANDU: Nepal Storm and Afghanistan Bulls recorded wins in the Asian Club Premier League here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Monday.
Storm defeated Indian Stars and Bulls saw off Dubai Warriors by identical margins of four wickets.
In the first match, Stars scored 172-3 in their allotted 20 overs after put into bat first before Storm raced to 175-6 in 16.2 overs. Jitendra Sharma scored an unbeaten 24-ball 57, while Nepal’s iconic player Paresh Lohani contributed 26 off 32 balls. Vineet Dhyani added 19-ball 24 and Amar Singh remained not out on 21 off 10 balls to guide Storm to convincing victory.
Sachin Kumar (2-20) and Amandeep Singh (2-23) shared four wickets between them, while Amar Karanwal claimed one wicket for Stars.
Earlier, Stars posted a fighting total riding on Amar Karanwal’s 41-ball 59 and Simrat Bawa’s unbeaten 37 off 29 balls. Swapnil Patil scored 33 off 28 balls and Puneet Bhati was not out on 32 off 20 balls.
Storm’s Gaurav Barabade took 2-20 and Amar Singh Routela claimed 1-21. In the second match, opting to bat first, Warriors scored 161-6 before Bulls reached 164-6 with a ball to spare.
