Nepal to play Singapore in decider

Kathmandu, May 30:

Nepal and Singapore will play the deciding match at Kelab Alam Stadium on Thursday after both the teams are tied at 19 points in the ACC Under-15 Cup (Elite Group) cricket tournament in Malaysia.

The match between Nepal and Hong Kong ended in a draw while Malaysia defeated Singapore by 10 wickets in the Group ‘A’ matches on Tuesday. Malaysia leads the table with 32 points, while Hong Kong are last with seven points and will play the hosts in the last match.

Nepal scored 152/7 off 60 overs. Hong Kong, resuming their first innings at 2/0 on Tuesday, declared at 87/9 after 47 overs. In their second innings, Nepal were 68/3 off 31 overs at close. Hong Kong did not bat for the second time. With the result, Nepal earned 10 points while Hong Kong got four. Prithu Banskota, who scored half century for Nepal in the first innings, was declared the man of the match.

In the other Group ‘A’ match, Malaysia overcame the target of 14 runs set by Singapore to claim the top spot. Singapore, who scored just 42 in the first innings, were all out for 110 in the second, setting 14-run target for the hosts. Malaysia declared their first innings at 138/6 and reached the target without loss in 15.5 overs.
