Nepal trample Malaysia by eight wickets to secure second win

KATHMANDU: Nepal beat Malaysia by eight wickets to secure the second victory in the ongoing ICC Asia U-19s World Cup Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia on Monday.

Nepal won the toss and opted to bowl first before restricting the hosts to a paltry score of 92 all out inside 34 overs. In reply, rampant Nepal cantered to victory with 222 balls to spare.

Kusal Malla and Pawan Sarraf were chief tormentors as they shared six wickets between them before Kamal Singh Airee took two wickets to dent Malaysian innings. Nepal made a solid opening stand as Rit Gautam and Pawan Sarraf shared 42 runs partnership before the latter was caught behind for 19 runs.

Gautam made brilliant 39 off 45 balls with five fours. Aasif Sheikh made whirlwind 26 off 18 balls with three fours and a six.

Later, Nepal's Pawan Sarraf was declared man of the match for his overall performance with both bat and ball.

Earlier, Nepal had lost to UAE by one run (D/L method) before defeating Singapore by 217 runs.
