Ireland post 185-run target to Nepal in ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier

KATHMANDU: Nepal and Ireland are playing their last league-round match of ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier at Kinrara Oval Academy in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Both the teams had already entered the ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier final, scheduled for tomorrow, after three consecutive wins with a game against each other in hand.

The winners of tomorrow's final showdown would earn the berth for next year’s ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup to be held in Bangladesh.

Winning toss, Ireland chose to bat and made 184/7 in allotted 50 overs.

Prem Tamang continued to be the pick of the Nepali bowlers with the figures of 4-35 runs in his 10-over spell. Lalit Rajbanshi claimed two and Sushil Kandel one.

Tamang, who took five wickets against the USA and two against Uganda, is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Aaron Gillespie topscored for Ireland. He made unbeaten 58 runs off 91. He hit six fours and one six.

Opener Jack Tector made 46 off 53 while his partner Andrew Austin could contribute 13 only. Gary McClintock added 25 off and Tom Stanton 30 off 45.
