KATHMANDU: Nepal won the men’s category title of the International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament here on Saturday.

In the final match, Nepal defeated India 59-38.

Earlier, Nepal had advanced to the final beating India and Bangladesh in the competition played under round robin format. India beat Bangladesh to make it to the final. Winners Nepal got Rs 50,000, while runners-up India received Rs 25,000 and Bangladesh got Rs 10,000.

A total of three teams — Nepal, India and Bangladesh — competed in the tournament organised by Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association. Nepal had also won the women’s category title beating Bangladesh in the two-team competition.

Out of the three matches played between the two teams, Nepal won two matches, while Bangladesh won one. Nepal earned Rs 50,000 and Bangladesh got Rs 25,000.
