Nepal Police Club advanced to the quarter-finals of the Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Khaptad Gold Cup here at the Dhangadhi Stadium today.

The departmental side defeated India's Georgian Football Club 3-0 in tie breaker after a 1-1 draw in the regulation period. Georgian took the lead in the eighth minute, thanks to an own goal from NPC's Manoj Rai. Bhola Silwal levelled the scores for NPC in the 41st minute.

The match was decided on penalties after both the teams failed to score in second half. Player-of-thematch Silwal, Suman Subedi and Prithvi Chaudhary converted their shots from the spot for NPC, while Georgian players failed to find the back of the nets.

NPC goalkeeper Shatrughan Chaudhary blocked Prabesh Roy's shot, while Sonam Lopchan struck against the cross bar and Pranaya Mukhiya shot wide.

NPC will face hosts Sudurpashchim Sports Club on Tuesday. Three Star Club will play against Friends Club in all-A division encounter on Monday. A total of 10 teams are taking part in the biggest tournament of mofussil in terms of cash prizes. Top two teams will earn Rs 2.1 million and one million rupees respectively.
