NRN Int’l Marathon

Kathmandu, September 25:

Springwood NRN Kathmandu International Marathon, that aims to showcase 10,000 athletes, also features short races including half-marathon, 3km, 5km and Corporate Fun Race.

The convenor of the event, Nilendra Raj Shrestha, said a city marathon could not be deemed successful without the hosting of short distance races. To make the event a grand success, 3km and 5km race will be conducted in 16 cities. The top three runners in each race will be invited to the main event scheduled for October 6 in Kathmandu.

The organisers claim to hold the race in more cities in coming years. Next year it will take place in all 58 municipalities. “The supportive races will help spread message of the international marathon. Moreover, it will also open a gateway to the hidden talent,” he said.

The organisers are expecting around 3,000 runners

in the 3km and 5km races this year. FNCCI, PABSON, Nepal Chamber of Commerce and local organisations will go hand in hand as the event partners.
