KATHMANDU: Sumit Shahi and Saurav Shahi registered wins in the All Nepal Open Snooker Championship here on Thursday. Sumit edged past Miken, while Saurav beat Om Krishna Chitrakar. Likewise, third-seeded Suresh Dangol, former champion Kunga Lama, Bikash Gurung, Ashok Shakya, Sahesh Ratna Bajracharya, Raaj Lama, Phurba Sherpa, Sinesh Nakarmi, Sachin Shrestha, Biren Shrestha and Bijay Maharjan also won their matches. A total of 128 players from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Hetaunda, Biratnagar, Pokhara, Butwal, Sunsari and Kavre are participating in the event. Top two teams will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, while the highest breaker will earn Rs 8,000. — HNS

Jol joins McLeishCAIRO: Martin Jol has become the second former English Premier League manager to take charge of a Cairo club this week after being appointed coach of Al Ahli. Jol replaces Portuguese Jose Peseiro who left last month to join Porto, the Egyptian club said.
