Lama claims Lumbini Insurance Golf title

Phuntsok N Lama accumulated 42 points to win the Lumbini General Insurance Invitational Golf Tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the five-handicapper Lama scored 23 points on the front nine and added 19 on the latter half. He carded four birdies on his way to scoring 42 points and also bagged the most birdies award. Pabitra Kumar Karki finished second in nett section with 38 points after Sanjeev Tiwari — who had scored 40 points — was disqualified for wrong entry in his card along with Prithivi Malla (34).
Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi won the gross category title with the score of 30 points. In women’s section, Pratima Sherpa came first with the score of 36 points, while Pawitra Yakthumba was second with 32 points. Likewise, Maj Bejoy Moktan bagged the senior section trophy with 34 points and Maj Gen Mahesh Bahadur Karki finished second with 31 points.
Prakash Gurung won the longest drive award, while Bikash SJB Rana claimed the closest-to-the-pin and best sportsmanship trophies. In all, 80 golfers, including six in women’s section, took part in the tournament which was organised by Lumbini General Insurance Company Ltd on the occasion of its 13th anniversary.
RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Nepal Golf Association President Madhukar Yakthumba, Lumbini General Insurance Chairman Manohar Das Mool, Founder Chairman Himalaya Shumsher Rana, RNGC Lady Captain Prawitra Yakthumba, former President Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha and Lumbini General Insurance CEO NP Pradhan gave away prizes to the winners of the two-day tournament.
