PM Oli urges athletes to think about the country while on ground

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday urged the departing U-19 National Cricket Team to think about the country while on the ground. The team will be leaving for Bangladesh tomorrow to participate in the U-19 Cricket World Cup to be held next week.

Wishing success to the team members and office-bearers at his official residence at Baluwatar today, Prime Minister Oli said, "Remember the country and our pride Sagarmatha while you are on the ground so that you can score more and take as many wickets."

Stating that self-confidence and discipline are necessary along with capability to achieve success in the game, PM Oli said, "Youth are now being attracted to cricket more and more nowadays. Even though Nepal made late entrance in international cricket, it has only enhanced country's pride."

PM Oli also assured that he on the behalf of the government was ready to provide maximum support to the cricket fraternity, stating that the government is conscious about its development.

Similarly, Minister for Youths and Sports (MoYS), Satya Narayan Mandal, Member Secretary at the National Sports Council (NSC), Keshav Kumar Bista, Ad hoc Committee Chairman of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Ramesh Silwal, among others said that the country is expecting good results from the players.

Chief Coach Jagat Bahadur Tamata and Captain Raju Rijal expressed commitment to meet the expectations and perform accordingly for a better result.
