Pokhara 11 defeat MCC by five wickets

POKHARA: One of the oldest cricket clubs of the world, Marylebone Cricket Club of England, have been defeated by Pokhara 11 by five wickets, in a friendly game played at Pokhara Stadium, on Monday.

The MCC had travelled to Pokhara with a friendly win over Kathmandu few days ago.

After winning the toss, the MCC had elected to bat first and posted a total of 202 at a loss of six wickets in 40 overs game.

Michael Kousle and Steve Clarke scored 61 and 56 runs respectively.

Openers had a torrid time on a moist pitch. However, after the sun came out, it was relatively easy for the batsmen to score runs.

However, the excellent opening bowling by Dipesh Khatri and Amrit Gurung was able to put consistent pressure on the batsmen and they were rewarded with two wickets each.

In reply, Pokhara 11 batsmen Anil Gurung, who played a match winning inning of 75 runs, was declared man of the match.

Shiva Subedi and Reason Praju both scored 28 runs.

Dipesh Khatri's explosive batting at the end with 25 runs from 9 balls took the hosts over the ropes.
