Pun, Awale win Recurve titles, Purja triumphs

Prem Prasad Pun of Swoyambhu and Tribhuvan Army Club’s Gyanu Awale won the Recurve category titles of the Rajdhani Archery Championship here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.
The 12th South Asian Games bronze medallist Pun beat Roshan Nagarkoti of TAC 6-2 in the final to win the men’s section title, while Awale beat Rashmi Darlami of Kaski 6-2 in the women’s category final. Ramesh Bhattachan of Swoyambhu and Aisha Tamang of TAC finished third.
Raj Purja of Annapurna Archery Club won the men’s Open Traditional event with a 6-0 win against Dhanendra Chhantyal of Nepal Chhantyal Society. Jitendra Roka Magar of Himalayan Bhote Youth Club came third. Top three archers in Recurve and Traditional events got Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
The Best Archery’s Grishma Gurung claimed the title of the Standard category beating Pawan Rai of TAC 6-5 in the final. Damber Thapa of TAC was third. Top three finishers earned Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Likewise, Prajeet Agrawal of The Best Archery defeated Hom Bahadur Thapa of Far-west 139-133 to win the men’s Compound event. Sanatan Malla of Rajdhani became third. They winners got Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
The two-day championship, that featured five events, was organised by Rajdhani News Publications Pvt Ltd under the auspices of Nepal Archery Association. Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Member Samim Miya Ansari, CEO of Rajdhani Ashish Sherchan, executive Editor Dilli Acharya and Nepal Archery Association President Deepak Gurung handed over the prizes to the winners.
