Kathmandu, March 14:

Himalayan River Guide Association of Nepal is organising the first National Rafting Championship on April 4 and 5.

A minimum of 10 teams — with six river guides in a team — are expected to take part in the championship, said the organisers at a press meet on Friday.

The winning team will qualify for the International Rafting Championship to be held in 2009 in Bosnia-Herzgovina. The event, which is promoted by Nepal Tourism Board, will be held from Bhotekoshi to Barabise.
