Rai wins NMB Race
Kathmandu, November 18:
Surendra Rai won the Nepal Mountain Bike Race organised by Kathmandu Mountain Bike Tours. Rai finished the 23km race in one hour and 20 seconds followed by Dhanjit Rai (1:04:49) and Herman Thapa (1:05:51).
Former national champion Suresh Kumar Dulal finished seventh after having technical problem. “I was lucky to complete the race,” said Dulal, who recently got sponsorship from ‘Specialised’, a UK-based cycling company.
Verena Stitzinger of Germany won the ladies title in 1:12:45 ahead of Sandy Starkey of Australia (1:21:13) and Nepal No 1 Nirjala Tamrakar (1:22:05). Thagendra Gurung won the Men’s Masters title in 1:09:25. Ajay Pandit Chhetri (1:03:33) won the Junior Boys’ event while Manish Kumar Subba (1:34:33) claimed the Corporate race . Other winners were Bikash Maharjan (school), Indra Lama (weekend warriors) and Bikash Karki (media).
