Rain denies India charge on 2nd day of Bangalore test
BANGALORE: India's push for an unassailable lead in the four-test series against South Africa received a setback Sunday when the second day's play was washed out.
The home side had reached 80-0 on the first day in reply to South Africa's first innings score of 214, with openers Shikhar Dhawan (45) and Murali Vijay (28) well set.

India won the first test at Mohali by 108 runs in under three days but getting even that much play looks difficult in Bangalore with more rain forecast for the next few days.
An early morning drizzle delayed the start of the second day's play and it started raining heavily just after it was announced that play would commence after a one-hour delay.
India has turned to spin-friendly pitches in a bid to win the test series after losing the preceding one-day series 3-2 and a Twenty20 series 2-0.
Offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who finished with eight wickets each at Mohali, grabbed four wickets apiece Saturday as South Africa struggled after being put in to bat by India captain Virat Kohli.
The pitch here is not as dry as at Mohali owing to rain over the past week and overcast conditions but South Africa still struggled against the spinners and did not live up to its top ranking in tests.
AB de Villiers top-scored for South Africa with a defiant 85 in his 100th test but the other batsmen failed to make much of an impact.
