Rain plays spoilsport
Kathmandu, July 11
The practice match between Nepal U-19 cricket team and Noida XI ended without result due to rain at the Shaheed Vijay Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, India today.
The match was stopped when Nepali team had reached 117-3 in 25 overs while chasing 279-run target. Aadil Khan (22 off 35) and Anil Kumar Sah (22 off 11) were at the crease when rain halted the match. Khan hit three fours, while Sah cracked five boundaries.
Aasif Sheikh (28 off 50) and Pranit Thapa Magar (27 off 38) also scored in double figures for Nepal. Sheikh hit three boundaries, while Magar hit five. Rahul Kumar Yadav of Noida took 3-18.
Earlier, Noida were bowled out for 278 runs in 49.2 overs riding on Anureet Singh’s 86-ball 121 that included 14 boundaries and seven sixes.
Parwinder Awana scored 43 off 35 balls hitting five sixes, while Rahul Yadav scored 37 off 70 and Naman Sharma added 33 off 37. Yadav hit five fours and Sharma hit three boundaries. Nepal’s Rohit Kumar Paudel bagged 5-59, while Shahab Alam took 3-49 and Rijan Dhakal claimed 2-43.
Nepali team is in India to prepare for the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers for Asia Region slated for July 16-26 in Singapore.
