Raju Tamang declared Best Footballer of the Year

KATHMANDU: Nepal's national football team midfielder Raju Tamang has been declared the Best Footballer of the Year for 2072 BS.

All Nepal Football Association of Nepal declared the versatile midfielder as the Best Player and awarded his with Rs 2.5 million cash prize on Tuesday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed the cheque to the player amid a special function in Kathmandu.

In previous years, ANFA had provided apartments to Best Footballers Rakesh Shrestha, Sagar Thapa and Ritesh Thapa.

Former goalkeeper and striker Upendra Man Singh and Hari Khadka were also awarded with a car each.

However, this time around, ANFA awarded cash prize to the title holder.

At the same event, ANFA also felicited each member of the winning teams of the South Asian Games and Bangabandhu Gold Cup held in India and Bangladesh respectively Rs 1 million.

Members of the women's national football team who finished runner-up to eventual winner India in the South Asian Games held in Guwahati of India were honoured with Rs 100,000 each.
