KATHMANDU: Mayanka Rana and Mahika Rana advanced to the semi-finals of the fourth Citizen Bank Open Tennis Tournament here on Monday. In women’s singles matches played at the Dasharath Stadium courts, Mayanka defeated Bijisa Shrestha 6-4, 6-1, while Mahika outplayed Anuska Malla 6-1, 6-1. In other quarter-finals matches, Era Raut edged past Ganga Sharma 6-2, 7-5 and Bhibhuti Karki thumped Ritu Gurung 6-1, 6-2. In boys’ section, Samrakchyan Bhusan Bajracharya routed Sabhya Bhusan Bajracharya 6-0, 6-1, while Kamal Bhandari beat Stephen 6-0, 6-1, Dawa Sonam registered a hard-fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 win over Pranav Khanal and Renjan Lama registered a 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 victory over Anil Shahi for the last eight berth. Likewise, Shakti Sharma, Jitendra Pariyar, Sakchyam Karki and Kumar Adhikari won their matches.
