Rayamajhi clinches final leg, Series title

Maj Nischaya Rayamajhi won the final leg title to claim the Carlsberg Golf Series here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Rayamajhi accumulated 275 points to finish first after he earned 200 points for winning the third and final tournament of the series.
Bharat Bastakoti, who led the field after the second edition, failed to earn points in the final and slipped to second position with 150 points. Along with the trophy, Rayamajhi earned full-paid trip to Malaysia and will take part in the Carlsberg Golf Classic slated for next month. Tashi Tshiring won the gross section title on count back after he was tied on 210 points with Tashi Dong. Tshiring earned 140 points in the final event, while Dong received 60.
In the final event played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Rayamajhi finished first with the score of 37 points. Dahal came second with 35 points. Tashi Tshiring won the gross category title with 35 points.
Likewise, Prativa Rai won the women’s section title on count back after she was tied on 30 points with Kashmira Shah. The winner was decided on the count of last six after both the golfers came up with identical scores on two halves. Rai emerged victorious as she had scored 10 points on the last six holes, while Shah had eight.
Madan Rana bagged the senior section trophy with 34 points. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus claimed the most birdies award with five birdies, while Eui Jae Lee and Wangchen Dhondup won the closest-to-the-pin and longest drive awards respectively.
In all, 85 golfers took part in the third and final leg of the series organised by Gorkha Brewery Pvt Ltd. GBPL Deputy Managing Director Surendra Silwal among others handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
