RIBS, APF advance to semis
KATHMANDU: RIBS and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) School cruised to the semi-finals of the Daffodil Cup Junior Football Tournament today.
RIBS dispatched Wits Academy 5-2 with a brace each from Sujan Lama and Jitkar Magar and another goal from Dhiraj Pradhan. Akasha Magar scored both the goals for Wits. In the other quarter-final, Nepal APF School hammered Daffodil 7-1. Robin Karko struck four times, Binaya Sapkota added a double and Dinesh Shahi scored the other for APF. Minraj Tamang pulled back one for the hosts.
In the boys' basketball, Tshering Sherpa netted 16 points to steer NIMS to a 45-28 win over Greenland. In other boys' matches, Gyan Niketan beat Reliance International Academy 45-41, Unique Academy saw off Martyrs Memorial 35-19, Pennwood dispatched Young Hearts 44-29, Unique eased past Awareness International Academy 52-16 and TIA overcame Baba 48-33. In the only girls' basketball match, NIMS beat Excelsior 22-8.
