RIBS win U-19 basketball

Kathmandu, August 19:

Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) won the Mohan Pradhan Memorial U-19 Basketball Tournament beating Prime 58-39 in final here today.

Robin Khatri top-scored 23 points for RIBS while Ravi Giri contributed 12 points for Prime. Khatri and Rupak Gurung, both of RIBS, were jointly declared the most valuable players of the tournament.

Three former national players Om Chandra Ghale, Rabindra Maharjan and Manish Lama were awarded with the lifetime achievement awards while Bipin Kapali was also honoured with the lifetime achievement award as a coach.

Sharad Robertson of Ktm Finest (Lincoln) and Rajeev Joshi of Prime were declared as the most promising players. Bill Warren, former Nepali national basketball coach and athletics director of Lincoln School, presented the trophy to the winners.

In all, 12 teams from Kathmandu Valley participated in the tournament organised by Community and Social Service Volunteers.
