Rising, Milan enter semi-finals

Rising Cricket Women and Milan Cricket Academy advanced to the semi-finals of the Ruslan Attariya Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament here today.
Rising thrashed Bara Cricket Academy by 130 runs for their second straight victory. They topped Group B and entered the last four.
Batting first, Rising accumulated a mammoth 203-3 in 20 overs, thanks to unbeaten 98 from Shahnaz Pravin. In reply, Bara managed 73-9.
Player-of-the-match Pravin smashed 16 boundaries in her 61-ball innings. She shared a 103-run partnership for the third wicket with Shampa Mukherjee, who scored a quick fire 48 off 29 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.
Pravin also added 59 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket with Nery Thapa Magar, who remained unbeaten on 28 off just 12 balls that included five boundaries. For Bara, Ranina Bisunke and Samana Pun took one wicket each.
Opener Geeta Gosai top scored for Bara with 37 off 53 balls with the help of five boundaries, while other batters failed to score in double figure. Shanti Khatiwada was the pick of the Rising bowlers taking 3-9 from four overs, while Ashmina Karmacharya, Nery Thapa Magar, Pooja Nimavat and Kriti Sen claimed one wicket each.
In another match, Milan Cricket Academy finished runners-up behind Nepal APF Club. Milan defeated Kanchanpur Women’s Team by 27 runs.
Batting first, Milan scored 146-6 in 20 overs and restricted Kanchanpur to 119-6.
Vaincy Chaudhary top scored for Milan with an unbeaten 47 off just 33 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Ritu Jain (28) and Muskan Began (18) also scored in double figures.
Dolly Bhatt was the pick of the Kanchanpur bowlers taking 3-25 from four overs, while Manju Bist took 2-36 and Janaki Bhatt pocketed one wicket.
Kabita Joshi scored a half century bit did not get support from other batters as Kanchanpur fell well short of the target. Joshi struck eight boundaries in her 57-ball 52, while opener Rekha Rawal (11) and Bindu Rawal (11 not out) were the other batters who contributed in double figures for Kanchanpur.
Sabnam Rai, Sangita Rai, Ritu Jain and Kabita Gautam took one wicket each for Milan. Jain was named the player-of-the-match.
A total of six teams are competing in the first-ever women’s Twenty20 league tournament organised by United Attariya Sports Club under the sponsorship of Ruslan. Teams are divided in two groups. APF, Milan Cricket Academy and Kanchanpur Women’s Team are in Group A, while Kailali District Cricket Academy, Rising Cricket Women of Kathmandu and Bara Cricket Academy are in Pool B. Top two sides from both the groups after the league round will make it to the semi-finals.
The winners and runners-up of the competition will get Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively, while the best player of the tournament will take home Rs 25,000. Likewise, the best batter, bowler and wicketkeeper of the tournament will receive Rs 10,000 apiece.
