SAG team returns
KATHMANDU: The Nepali contingent landed on Kathmandu on Wednesday after their participation at the 11th South Asian Games held in Dhaka from January 29 to February 9.
The Nepali team won eight gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals to finish fifth in the standings competing in 23 sports disciplines.
Nepal had fielded a total of 178 players in 23 disciplines, out of which 11 sports returned empty-handed from Dhaka, while karate won the most number of medals — three gold, two silvers and two bronze medals. Judo was the most successful event as the sport brought in four medals in five events.
NSC vice-president Pitambar Timsina, acting member secretary Samim Miya Ansari and Member Min Krishna Maharjan among others welcomed the team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
