Bajracharya, Koirala clinch tennis titles

Lalitpur, August 5

Prerana Koirala and Samrakshyak Bhushan Bajracharya claimed the U-16 singles titles of the first ANLTA-JTI National Junior Tennis Tournament here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

Koirala won the girls’ category title, while Bajracharya claimed boys’ category title.

Koirala defeated Saloni Tamang 6-1, 6-3 in the girls’ final. Koirala had also won the girls’ U-14 category defeating Tamang in the final.

Similarly, Bajracharya won the title after his opponent Pranav Khanal retired hurt in the final match.

Khanal had claimed first set 6-1 but Bajracharya bounced back to win second set 6-3. However, Khanal was injured in the third set and Bajracharya was declared as the winner. Bajracharya had also won the boys’ U-18 category title.

Earlier, Boris Adhikari and Samridhi Maharjan claimed the U-8 category titles, while Ayushman Ghale and Prasamsa Moktan bagged the U-9 sections.

Aarav Samrat Hada and Prasamsa Moktan were the winners of the U-10 category titles in boys’ and girls’ sections respectively, while Aryan Giri and Rayan Shah won the U-12 category titles.

Samyak Bhushan Bajracharya claimed the boys’ U-14 title and Mayanka Rana won the girls’ U-18 category trophy.

ANLTA’s former President Hem Bahadur Lama among others handed over the prizes to the winners. A total of 72 players took part in the tournament organised by All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association.
