KATHMANDU: Sanu Gurung won the veteran’s singles (above 35yrs) section title of the first AIA Open Tennis Tournament title after his opponent Rajesh Chhetry retired in the second set.

Chhetry could not continue in the second set due to blister on his foot after he had lost the first set 7-6 at the Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) courts.

Prithvi Thakali and Uttam Lama advanced to the veteran’s singles (above 45yrs) section final. Prithvi laboured to a 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 win over Manoj Rana, while Uttam defeated Jhyanba Dhondup 6-1, 6-2.

Athletes In Action (AIA) has been organising the tournament under the auspices of All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association.
