Shakti Gauchan to tour England with Indian club

Shakti Prasad Gauchan, Nepal national cricket team’s vice captain, has been selected for an Indian club’s tour of England. Thane Friends Union Cricket Club of Mumbai selected Shakti for the 20-day tour which begins on July 7. During the tour, the club will play one-day and two-day friendly matches with with the ‘C’ Division club teams. Shakti became the first Nepali player to be selected by an Indian club to play abroad. According to Shakti, the ‘A’ Division club — the oldest cricket club of the state which was established in 1915 — has been organising such tours for the last 25 years. “I had personal relations with the club officials and they included me in the 17-member team this time around,” said Shakti. Shakti played for about six years for Mumbai clubs. He was associated with Thane Sporting Club for four

years and played two seasons for Khar Gymkhana. Shakti was also selected for India Under-15 camp in 1998.
