Sherpa wins Citizens Bank Cup

Kathmandu, April 21

Babu Sherpa won the title of the Citizens Bank Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the 10-handicapper Sherpa earned 40 points to win the trophy along with gift voucher worth Rs 65,000. Rabindra Tiwari came second with 39 points and he received gift voucher worth Rs 25,000.

Prithivi Malla won the gross section title on count back after he was tied on 38 points with Tashi Tshiring. Malla scored 19 points on both the halves, while Tshiring had 20 and 18 points in the front and back nine respectively. Along with the trophy, Malla received gift voucher worth Rs 35,000.

Arsiya Banu lifted the women’s section title with the score of 22 points, while Bhairaja Pandey (33) bagged the senior category trophy. Ang Tshiring Sherpa (37) was the best among the Citizens Bank customers. All three winners received gift voucher worth Rs 15000 each.

Sadbhav Acharya won the junior section trophy with 22 points, while Mayank Dahal was second with 19 points. Acharya received gift voucher worth Rs 15000 along with the trophy. Likewise, Tashi Tshiring won the most birdies award with four birdies, while Vijay Shrestha Einhaus bagged the longest drive trophy and Fakre Shah claimed the closest-to-the-pin award. They received gift voucher worth Rs 5000 each.

A total of 86 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Citizens Bank. Chairman of Citizens Bank Shankar Sharma, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners.
