COLOMBO: The Asian Karate Federation banned Deepak Shrestha from participating in the international events for two years for his indiscipline during his bout against Sri Lanka’s PMSP Mudalige in the men’s 60kg kumite bout on August 26.

According to Nepali team manager, Anandu Lama confirmed the report. The bout was marred by several protests from the Nepali camp for the biased judgement from the jury. The Nepali players and officials then gathered at the centre and protested against the biased decision. Deepak also protested against the refereeing and remained on the mat unmoved and did not play the full bout.
