Shrestha extends lead on Day II
Kathmandu, May 26:
Shiv Ram Shrestha carded four-under 68 on the second day of the Pilot Golfers NPGA Classic to extend a seven-stroke lead over Deepak Thapa Magar here at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.
Shrestha finished the second round with a total of six under 138. Thapa Magar, who was tied for the second with Radheshyam Thapa and Ram Thapa after the first round, scored even par 72. Thapa Magar is one over 145 after 36 holes.
Rabi Khadka played a round of 72 to finish at an aggregate of three over 147. Radheshyam Thapa and Ram Thapa both shot three over 75 and are tied for fourth.
Shiv Ram sank birdies on the third and seventh to complete the front nine one under 35 and charged back on the back nine with birdies on 11th, 13th and 16th. Thapa Magar sank birdies on the second, third and eighth holes for a three under 33 in front nine. Thapa Magar three-putted on 12th before making double bogey on the 13th and again a bogey forced him to finish even par.
Rabi Khadka made birdies on on the seventh and 12th while dropping shots on 11th and 14th. Ram Thapa had a disastrous front nine, finishing five over 41 but amended his mistakes in the back nine with a card of two under 34. Radheshyam had a lone birdie on the seventh and made bogeys on fourth, sixth, ninth and 18th. Sanjay Lama finished at the sixth place after a round of 75. Deepak Acharya and Ramesh Nagarkoti carded 74 and 75 respectively to share the seventh place for a total of 150.
In amateur section, Rupak Acharya shot four over 76 to lead the field by six shots for a total of 154. Prasanna Upretti, Megh Raj Baral and Prakash Neupane share the second place at 160. The final round will be played at the Royal Nepal Golf Club.
