Shrestha shines again

Kathmandu, July 23

Nepal international Jagajeet Shrestha scored the eqaliser as Hume United Football Club came from two goals down to beat Futzroy City 3-2 in the Zagame’s Men’s State League 2 in North- West, Australia.

Shrestha, who had scored the winning goal in his debut match with the club last week, made it 2-2 with a stunning free-kick goal from 35 yards out before skipper Leon Bilal headed home the winning goal in the 89th minute.

“Nepalese International the King Jagajeet is now on stage. Hume gains a free kick and oh my god what a curve and free kick from 35 metres and Jagajeet does it again, 2-2,” said Hume United on their Facebook page. “Well Done Boys…What a Comeback!”

After a goalless first half, Hume United were 2-0 down in the second half inside 12 minutes before rallying to gain full three points in their second straight match. Shrestha had scored a brace in his first match with the club in their 3-2 win over Sporting Whittlesea FC last Saturday.

Shrestha has signed a four-month contract with Australian State League side and he will earn $1,500 per month. Yeti FC, a State League 5 side formed by Nepalis residing in Australia, had helped Shrestha find the club.
