Kathmandu, January 16:

Jaya Ram Shrestha won the Caddies’ Golf Championship here at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.

Played under stroke-play format, the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) caddie Shrestha finished with six-over 78, two stroke ahead of Dinesh Khannal of Gokarna. The winner and the runner up received Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively.

Megh Raj Baral (81), Om Thakuri (84) and Prakash Neupane (85) of RNGC finished second, third and fourth respectively while Bishnu Bhandary of Gokarna and Kishan Kaliraj of RNGC shared the sixth place with 20-over 92. Tied for the eighth with 21-over 93 were Narayan Chaulagain, Krishna Panta, Rajendra Shrestha and Dipendra Rayamajhi.

In all, 27 caddies — 17 from hosts Gokarna and five each from RNGC and Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club — took part in the tournament. The qualifier for the event was held a month earlier. In total, Rs 83,000 was awarded as cash prizes to all the participants. Princess Himani gave away the prizes to the winners.
