Shrestha wins title

KATHMANDU: Regan Shrestha won the title of the first Chamunda All Nepal Snooker Championship here on Saturday.

Shrestha defeated Rajan Lama 7-4 in the best-of-11-frame final match. With the title, Shrestha received Rs 200,000, while Lama pocketed Rs 75,000. Joint third-place winners Som Lama and Nirman Bogati earned Rs 30,000 each. Along with the runner-up trophy, Lama got the highest break award for his 81 points and received Rs 30,000. Dorje Pakhrin was named the best player of the tournament and he earned Rs 10,000.

A total of 150 players took part in the biggest snooker tournament of the country organised by Chamunda Snooker Club.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal, Board Member Indira Niraula and President of Nepal Billiards, Snooker and Pool Association Saroj Mulmi handed over the prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Silwal assured the cueists of including snooker in the ninth National Games.
