Simara Gold Cup Football set for next month

Nava Janajagriti Youth Club is organising the ninth Ruslan Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Simara Stadium from February 8-16.

A total of 12 teams — hosts Nava Janajagriti, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club, Sahara Club of Pokhara, Ruslan Three Star Club, CMG Club Sankata, Rupandehi-XI, Jhapa-XI, Hetauda-XI, Jawalakhel Youth Club and Birgunj United Club— will take part in the tournament, informed Club President Kashim Miya at a press meet today.

Miya said the top two teams will be awarded with Rs 551,000 and Rs 250,000 respectively, while the best player of the event will take home a motorbike. Similarly, the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward, highest scorer and coach will receive Rs 15,000 each, while the man-of-the-match will get Rs 5,000.

The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 7.6 million. Vijay Distillery Pvt Ltd is the main sponsor of the tournament.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Club Shambhu Singh Thakuri informed a temporary parapet would be placed to accommodate around 5,000 spectators.
