Singh lifts Himalayan Bank Cup amateur trophy
Kathmandu, March 18:
OCB Singh won the amateur section title of the Himalayan Bank Open Golf Tournament here at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort today.
Played at stableford 3/4 handicap format, Singh accumulated 38 points, while Maj Bejoy Moktan was runner-up with 35 stableford points. Chuda Bahadur Bhandari won the best gross award with 32 gross points.
Mrs Ryu came first in the ladies section with 33 points ahead of K Moktan. K B Shah was the winner in the senior section, followed by M B Raut. Naresh Upadhyaya came first in the super senior section.
Lobsang Tashi earned 32 points to win the Himalayan Bank Limited Customer category title, followed by Swastika Ignam with 33 points. Other winners included Thomas Fisler (most birdies), M D Mool (longest drive), Tashi Ghale (closest to the pin) and Sandeep Upadhyaya (booby).
Bijay Nath Bhattarai, Governor, NRB, and Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman, Himalayan Bank Limited, gave away prizes to the winners. CEO Ashok Rana, directors Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha and Bijay Bahadur Shrestha were also present on the occasion. In all, 109 golfers, including 44 in HBL Customer, three in super senior, 10 in senior and 12 in ladies sections, took part in the one-day event.
The winners of the four-day pro tournament held from March 13-16 were also awarded. Sabin Sapkota was winner with seven-over 295 and earned Rs 51,000.
Deepak Neupane, at 296, was second and received Rs 27,500, whereas Deepak Acharya and Deepak Thapa Magar were joint third with 299. They got Rs 15,500 each. Among amateurs, CB Bhandari had finished first with 301, followed by Surya Prasad Sharma (306).
