Binita felicitated

KATHMANDU: The 11th South Asian Games wushu gold medallist Binita Maharjan was feted here on Saturday by the school from where she completed her SLC. Jaljala Secondary School honoured Binita with Rs 22,222 for her achievement in Dhaka where she claimed gold in Thaichi Quan event. Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Hari Babu Chaudhary presented the letter of appreciation to the player. Chairman of the school and former Vice-president of NSC Sitaram Maskey was also present on the occasion.

Ganesh claims title

KATHMANDU: Ganesh Man Duwal of Bhaktapur earned nine points to claim the Makhan Rating Chess Tournament on Saturday. Ganesh beat Dharam Bahadur Lama in the 11th and final round after playing a draw with Sajan Pandey in the 10th. Ganesh received Rs 10,000. The former Nepal champion Punya Man Karmacharya finished second with eight points and earned Rs 7,000 while Sajan ended third with 7.5 points to get Rs 5,000. Suman Lama won unrated category award.
