Sunrise, ANFA join hands

KATHMANDU: Sunrise Bank today signed Rs 1.5 million sponsorship deal with the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA),

the local organisers of the AFC U-19 Championship 2010 Group A Qualifiers

slated here for October 24 to November 4.

The six-team qualifiers will be held at two venues — Dasharath Stadium in Tripureswor and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Headquarters in Halchowk. The Group includes hosts Nepal, Tajikistan, Jordon, Yamen, Palestine and Kyrgyzstan. The top two teams will qualify for the finals.Assistant General Manager of Sunrise Bank, Asha

Adhikary and ANFA President Ganesh Thapa signed the memorandum of

understanding. Speaking on the occasion, Adhikary said that the bank was honoured to have joined hands

with the ANFA. “My best wishes for the Nepali team in the tournament,” added Adhikary.

Thanking Sunrise Bank for their support, ANFA President Thapa said that now it’s their responsibility to successfully organise the event. “We got the opportunity to hosts both the U-16 and

U-19 AFC Championships but we had a challenge to meet the financial burden,” said Thapa.

“We made the U-16 Championship a success

as the organisers and we look forward to have similar cooperation from all quarters of the society including sponsors and the government in the U-19 qualifiers as well.”

Thapa also revealed that the Finance Ministry had approved three million rupees for the two AFC Championships Qualifiers.
