SC issues interim order in Sherpa’s case
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued the show cause and interim order in the case of National Sports Council vice-president Lama Tendi Sherpa’s suspension from sports-related activities.
Reacting to writ petition filed by Sherpa against the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the single bench of justice Cholendra SJB Rana issued the order.
Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC had on August 22 taken the decision to suspend Sherpa from all sports-related activities as per the instruction of Department of Customs. Sherpa — who is also the General Secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee and President of Nepal Basketball Association — was arrested from the TIA in 2015 on charge of illegally possessing gold. Sherpa was released on bail after he paid the amount of Rs 1.3m.
