Tour Championship tees off today

Kathmandu, July 3

The Nepal Professional Golfers Association is organising the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship here at the Gokarna Golf Club from Monday.

A total of 31 professional golfers and 16 amateur players will take part in the seventh and final event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2015-16. The event will be played over 72 holes and the cut will be applied after the second round with top 21 pros and six amateurs making it to the final two rounds.

Out of the total cash purse of Rs 540,000, the winner will receive Rs 100,000. Likewise, the runner-up and second third-placed pro will get Rs 63,000 and Rs 45,000 respectively. Others in the top 21 will also get their share of cash prizes.

Top Nepali pro Shiva Ram Shrestha along with winners of other events Sanjay Lama, Ramesh Adhikari, Dhana Thapa, and Umesh Nagarkoti will rub their shoulders over the next four days in the season ending tournament. Likewise, Tanka Bahadur Karki, Sukra Bahadur Rai and Arun Tamang among others will vie for the amateur trophy.
