Svindal victorious

WENGEN: Aksel Lund Svindal provisionally won a World Cup downhill on the Lauberhorn course on Saturday, finally taking the classic title at the 10th attempt and the overall standings lead. Svindal stunned the Swiss crowd by being 1.52 seconds faster than early leader Klaus Kroell of Austria down the shortened 2.7km course. Hannes Reichelt raced immediately after Svindal and got within 19 of the Norwegian’s 1 minute, 48.79 seconds mark to finish second, pushing teammate Kroell into third.
