Tamang siblings in quarter-finals

Nepal Army Club’s Ratnajit Tamang, Sudeep Sedhai and Sajan Krishna Tamrakar along with Nepal Police Club’s Bishnu Katuwal and Dipesh Dhami advanced to the men’s singles quarter-finals of the second Zest National Open Badminton Tournament here today.

National champion Tamang saw off his teammate Bijit Thapa Magar 21-9, 21-4, while Sedhai defeated Nepal Police Club’s Gautam Kathayat 21-14, 21-15 and Tamrakar outplayed Prince Dahal of Sherpa Traders 21-17, 21-16.

Likewise, NPC’s Katuwal defeated Sunil Joshi of Sherpa Traders 21-14, 13-21, 22-20 and Dhami recorded a 21-15, 21-12 win against Suman Limbu of APF. Tribhuvan Army Club’s Nabin Shrestha defeated Complete Health Club’s Nir Bikram Devkota, Jeevan Acharya of Complete Health outplayed Deepak Bohara of NPC 22-20, 21-19 and made it to the quarters along with Sanjeev Khadka of Kailali.

In women’s singles, TAC’s Nangsal Tamang, Rashila Maharjan, Anumaya Rai and Amita Giri along with Nita Lamsal of Samrat Sporting Club, Poonam Gurung of Kaski, Jesica Gurung of Zest and Sita Rai of Bhojpur advanced to the last eight.

In men’s doubles, APF pair of Bishal Pradhan and Bimal Shrestha defeated Thopten Sherpa and Dipu Magar of Tin Chuli 251-15, 21-8 and the duo of Indra Mahata of APF and Gautam Kathayat of NPC beat Zest’s pair of Birat Prajuli Thapa and Samrat Prajuli Thapa 21-8, 21-13 to enter the last eight.

TAC duo Suroj Maharjan and Praful Maharjan recorded a 21-15, 21-11 win against Zest’s duo Ram Baniya and Roman Baniya, while the pair of Pabin Linthep and Rukesh Maharjan defeated G4’s Akash Chhantyal and Ganesh Chhantyal 21-17, 21-11 and Dilendra Pun and Bishal Pun’s pair outplayed Bhugol Gurung and Bishal Khadka of Kaski 21-18, 17-21, 21-15.

Likewise, Baglung’s Bibek GC and Chandra Kumar Khapung defeated Tokha’s pair of Rajiv Shrestha and Buddha Shrestha 21-10, 21-11, while Zest duo of Rupak Thing and Akhil Shrestha saw off Lalitpur’s Sashin Dangol and Dipesh Shakya 12-21, 21-16, 22-20 and the pair of Resham Pun and Raj Kumar Pokharel of Gangata Club outplayed Lalitpur’s pair of Pradeep Maharjan and Bikash Maharjan 21-10, 21-17 to make it to the last eight.

In boys’ U-17 section, TAC’s Bishal Khadka, Pabin Linthep, Rukesh Maharjan and Praful Maharjan along with Sherpa Traders’ Prince Dahal, Nepalgunj Badminton Club’s Sahroj Ansari and Shiva Thapa as well as Zest’s Siyon Penjor Kempe advanced to the last eight.
