Team off to Canada

KATHMANDU: A three-member taekwondo team on Thursday left for Canada to participate in the Toronto Open Taekwondo Championship slated for November 17-19. Gyani Chunara will fight in women’s 67kg weight category, while Rejina Karki is scheduled to take part in 49kg section.

Likewise, Yan Kumari Chaulagain will fight in 57kg weight category.

All three players are the silver medallists of the 12th South Asian Games in India, while Chaulagain had also bagged bronze in the 11th edition held in Dhaka.

The eighth SA Games gold medallist Raj Kumar Rai, who is currently in Canada, will coach the players in the tournament.

Nepal Taekwondo Association Vice-president Nandu Rai and Secretary Deepak Bista bade farewell to the players.
