Tennessee clinches SEC with victory over Kentucky

KNOXVILLE: Kelley Cain scored 14 points to help No. 4 Tennessee clinch its 15th regular season Southeastern Conference championship with an 81-65 win over No. 16 Kentucky on Thursday night.

The Lady Vols (26-2, 13-1) used several runs to pull away in the first half and stayed firmly in control in the second half thanks to consistent play inside and near-perfect free throw shooting. They made 25 of 27 for the game.

Victoria Dunlap scored 22 points for Kentucky (23-5, 11-4). But the fourth-leading scorer in the SEC shot just 6 of 19 from the field.

Five players scored in double figures for Tennessee.

Tennessee's last SEC regular season title came in 2007 when the Lady Vols won their seventh national championship.
