Third KCC Running Trophy begins today

Kantipur City College (KCC) Sports Club is organising the third KCC Running Trophy 2005, an inter-college cricket tournament among the colleges affiliated with Purbanchal University, at the Institute of Engineering (IOE) ground from Tuesday. In all, 12 colleges including three from Biratnagar are taking part in the tournament, which was started in 2003, said Dilip Gautam, coordinator of KCC Sports Club, at a press meet today. The Himalayan Times is the official media of the nine-day tournament. The participating teams are divided into two pools of six teams each. KCC ‘A’, Khwopa Engineering College, Eastern Engineering College of Biratnagar, Kathmandu Don Bosco College, Campion Kathmandu College, College of Information and Technology, and Science and Technology Campus of Biratnagar, who won the first edition of the tournament, are in Pool A. Defending champions Himalayan White House International college, Management College of Biratnagar, ACME Engineering College, Sagarmatha Multiple College, Himalayan College of Agricultural Science and Technology and KCC ‘B’ are in Pool B. Kantipur City College ‘A’ will take on Khwopa Engineering College in the inaugural match of the knock-out tournament. The preliminary round matches will be played 25-over-a-side, while the semi-finals and the final will be 30-over-a-side match.
