Three Star, APF record big wins
Kathmandu, February 1:
Jibesh Pandey completed a five-goal haul as Armed Police Force (APF) Team defeated Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 6-2 and Nabil Three Star Club recorded a solid 5-0 win over Saraswoti Youth Club in the Martyrs Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football here at the Dasharath Stadium today.
Yugal Kishor Rai and skipper Surendra Tamang struck twice each and Pradeep Maharjan scored one for Three Star. Srikrishna Prajapati also scored a goal apart from Jibesh Pandey for APF while Suraj Gurung and Dipen Tamang scored for BBC.
Yugal Kishor headed home on a cross from Santosh Gurung to give Three Star the lead in the 44th minute. Skipper Surendra’s hard work resulted into another goal in the 67th minute as he cut through two Saraswoti defenders and supplied to Yugal who tapped in his second goal from the goalmouth.
Surendra also joined the goal feast in the 68th minute scoring off a cross from Pradeep, who himself added fourth goal for his team in the 79th minute. Surendra completed the rout scoring the fifth following an assist from Yugal in the 87th minute. Rajesh Shahi of Nabil Three Star won the Adidas man of the match award.
Three Star coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said that he was not satisfied with the his players’ performcance. “We scored many goals but there was no enthusiasm in my players,” said Maharjan adding that he was aiming to finish the league at the second place. Saraswoti coach Lokesh Thapa said they under-performed today.
In the second game, Jibesh Pandey scored the first five goals. He opened the spree in the 28th minute when he scored on a volley off Mansajan Rajbhandari’s cross. Jibesh added another three minutes later tapping in from close range following a cross from Gopal Thapa. He completed his hat-trick in the 35th minute, heading home on an assist from Rajbhandari.
Jibesh then added his fourth in the first minute of the first half injury time before scoring the fifth in the 54th minute. Prajapati also joined the party scoring the sixth goal in the 60th minute before BBC pulled back two goals. Suraj scored one in the 64th minute and Dipen netted another in the 90th minute.
APF coach Dhruba KC said that there was no need to be happy with the margin of the win. “They (BBC) are a weak team and the scoreline was quite obvious,” said KC, who rued as many as a dozen open goal-scoring chances.
