Surendra Tamang scored four goals as Three Star Club (TSC) thrashed Friends Club 7-2 in the Super Six League match of the Martyrs’ Memorial Everest ‘A’ Division football tournament here at Dasharath Stadium today. With the day’s victory, TSC remained six points clear of the second-placed Mahendra Police Club, while defending champions Manang Marsyangdi Club are at fourth spot with 25 points behind Tribhuvan Army Club, also with 25 points. The day’s four goals took Three Star Club striker Surendra Tamang to the top of the highest scorers’ list so far with 15 goals. MMC striker Basanta Thapa (12) and TAC star Janamat Karki (10) are the other closest contendors for the highest scorers’ award of motorbike.
Friends Club took lead through Deepak Khawash in the 44th minute. After Pradip Maharjan equalised in the 56th minute, Three Star Club hammered Friends Club with other five goals in 10 minutes. Bishan Gauchan put TSC ahead in the 72nd minute through Bishan Gauchan. After two minutes, Surendra Tamang guided the ball from the centre and scored easily to make it 3-1. Bishan Gauchan scored his second and team’s fourth goal following Surendra Tamang’s pass in the D-Box. Surendra scored his second goal of the match in the 78th minute through spot kick, which TSC earned after Ramesh Maharjan of Friends Club handled the ball inside the penalty area. Surendra completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute.
Deepak Khawas reduced the margin to 6-2 in the 88th minute dodging two defenders on Chandra Tamang’s pass. Surendra Tamang completed the rout with his fourth goal in the injury time when he easily netted the ball beating Friends second-choice glovesman Sanjeev Shrestha. Friends Club skipper Rabin Byanjankar, and Three Star’s Pradip Maharjan and Santosh Sahukhala were booked.
