India-SL to play 7 ODI

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka will play seven one-day internationals during its India tour starting in November, the cricket board said on Monday. Originally, Sri Lanka was to play five one-day international matches, but it was agreed to add two more, making the tour spill over into January 2006, said Tryphon Mirando, secretary of the cricket board. Sri Lanka will also play three Test matches. — AFP

Gary Lineker sued

LONDON: Former England soccer captain Gary Lineker said on Monday he didn’t libel Australian striker Harry Kewell in a newspaper column but was criticising soccer’s transfer system in general. Kewell is suing Lineker, Sunday Telegraph sports editor Jon Ryan and Telegraph Group Ltd in London’s High Court over a July 2003 article on his 5-million-pound transfer from Leeds to Liverpool. — AFP
